Consultation on charities and investment matters

About the consultation

We are consulting about draft guidance on charity investments. Before we publish the revised guidance, we want to make sure that charity trustees and those who act for them:

  • are able to find the answers to the common questions they have about investing their charity’s money
  • have information to help them in weighing up the advantages and disadvantages of different approaches to investment

This consultation will help us to assess whether any further work is needed to achieve this.

Where and when to send responses

This consultation closed on 28 February 2011. The documents are still available for information, and if you have any late comments these may be considered.

Please send responses by email to investment@charitycommission.gov.uk or by post.

We will also be consulting in 2011 on regulations to allow charitable trusts with permanent endowments to adopt a total return investment policy by means of a resolution, using a power conferred by the Trusts (Capital and Income) Bill. We will include a link to that consultation on our website when it is published.
