Why are we asking for this information?

What can I do if I disagree with the Charity Commission's decision?

We make many decisions in the course of our work and we recognise that our customers will not always agree with them.

A charity wishing to appeal a decision of the Charity Commission can challenge this through our decision review process. If you ask us to, we will reconsider our original decision to review whether it is the right one ie it is a proper exercise of our powers and consistent with our statutory objectives. We will also check that the reasons for our decisions have been adequately expressed.

Our review procedure offers a genuine opportunity for our decisions to be looked at afresh by someone not previously involved in making the decision. Wherever possible we will ask someone more senior than the original decision maker to conduct the review.

At the end of the review we will clearly explain our decision and what further action, if any, we will take.
