How do I resign as a trustee?

Your charity’s governing document should set out how trustees can resign their position.

You should not resign if by doing so you leave the trustee body without a quorum for decision-making (unless the governing document provides for this).

In the case of a charity that holds land in the name of the trustees there must be no less than two trustees remaining should you resign.

We will need to be informed once you have resigned so that your details no longer appear alongside the charity’s register entry.

You should advise your fellow trustees to obtain a password to our online services to remove your details.
