Before you start
You may not need to be added to the register of mergers. But if you expect to receive a significant amount of income from legacies, being in the register of mergers means these donations can be transferred to the new charity.

If you decide not to apply to be added to the register of mergers, you will still need to tell us that your charity has closed to merge with another:
What you will need to tell us
You will need to have the following to hand:
- names and registered charity numbers for all charities involved in the merger
- details of any property being transferred – including the dates of any vesting declarations and the dates of the actual or proposed transfer
