Our website provides specific guidance to help you complete your application. It includes the Types of charity that do not have to register, Registration process, finding trustees, how to demonstrate public benefit and choosing your charity's name, purposes and governing document.

You may be able to get information and guidance from the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) or find a local organisation to help you via the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action (NAVCA).  The Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA) may be able to help similarly for charities based in Wales.

Organisations may also wish to consult a professional advisor when they are considering applying for charitable status.
