SORP mailbox for your comments about what might be changed

The SORP is periodically reviewed and rewritten from time to time. A new draft SORP is issued for public comment in accordance with guidelines issued by the Accounting Standards Board. The SORP Committee, as a preliminary stage to beginning the process of drafting the next SORP, is inviting initial comment via the roundtables as to what in the current SORP might be changed. This e-mail box facility will allow you to feed in your own views in at this preliminary stage. This e-mail facility closes on 31 March 2009.

Please note that for your views to count your e-mail must contain all of the following information. Incomplete submissions will be ignored as invalid.

In your e-mail, if possible in this order, please write:

  • Your name
  • Your viewpoint (whether you are writing as a donor or someone who prepares charity accounts or someone who audits or examines charity accounts or as a user or beneficiary or other stakeholder)
  • Explain if you wish to see something taken out, something added, or something in the current SORP amended and your suggestions for a solution.

And where appropriate please also give:

  • The name of your charity if you are writing as an employee or trustee
  • The charity registration number (if registered)
  • Or the name of your audit or professional firm (if appropriate)
