The Regulator for Charities in England and Wales

CHARITY COMMISSION

SERVICE DELIVERY AGREEMENT 2001-04

G Policy and Strategy

The key priorities over the period include:

    • continuing an internal programme of peer review for all policy projects, including evidence-based analysis;

    • new training and support programmes introduced by March 2002 to provide greater awareness of gender and ethnic minority issues;

    • revising consultation procedures by March 2001 so:

    • they are as straightforward and easy as possible thus removing barriers to involvement;

    • make full and appropriate use of e-mail and internet; and

    • that the range of consultees takes account of diversity in England and Wales;

    • continuing a programme designed to improve the definition of charity by considering two topics per year;

    • developing an international strategy by March 2001;

    • examining emerging approaches to risk management in the public and private sectors to support policy, prioritisation, and decision making by March 2001;

    The department’s Board, which includes three non-executive part time Commissioners, will continue to review progress on all key priorities on a quarterly basis.
